MANILA -- Paulo Avelino clarified his earlier statement about wanting to "retire," saying that he only wants to take a break.
It has been a busy time for Avelino, who is starring the much-awaited biopic "Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral," which is finally opening in theaters next month.
Avelino can also be seen in the daytime drama "Asintado" and will soon be part of the teleserye "The General's Daughter" with Angel Locsin.
"Not naman retire, It's like a break... I've been doing this for 10 years, so I think pahinga naman. Siguro bakasyon ng kaunti. Slow down muna tayo," Avelino said in a press conference for "Goyo" on Thursday.
"I will stil lbe active. I will be doing stuff," Avelino assured.
He also said he isn't "inspired" by John Lloyd Cruz, who took an indefinite leave from showbiz and has not since returned.
"Hindi naman. I always want to try new things and test things. Break lang," he said.
"Hindi naman ako mawawala. Parang mas gusto ko lang na mas relaxed. Ayaw ko lang nang naghahabol-habol sa schedule ko kasi, magsabay, lagare. Gusto ko mag-relax lang."
Avelino said he is planning to take a break after his series with Locsin.
"Mas slower pace lang. Importante sa atin 'yung work, life ay balanced. I think 'yun ang kulang ko. Work, work lang sa akin," he said.
