“Miss Granny,” the Philippine adaptation of the hit South Korean film about a grandmother who regains her youthful appearance, opened Wednesday with strong ticket sales, according to producer Viva Films.

The Sarah Geronimo-starrer raked in P7.8-million on its first day in cinemas nationwide, Viva Films announced on its social media channels.

“Miss Granny” sees Geronimo as the young version of Nova Villa, whose character regains her 20s apperance after being photographed at a mysterious studio curiously called, "Forever Young."

She finds the transformation as a means of escaping personal problems, including a rift with her children and her grandchildren, whom she feels no longer value her.

The Joyce Bernal film marks Geronimo’s first team-up with James Reid and Xian Lim, both sought-after leading men with their respective onscreen “love teams.”
