(UPDATED) In what appeared to be a guest list mix-up, Kim Chiu was asked to vacate her cinema seat at the premiere screening of “Miss Granny” on Monday night, as seen in a video that’s now going viral.
Chiu attended the event to support her erstwhile onscreen partner and rumored boyfriend Xian Lim, who stars with Sarah Geronimo and James Reid in the Viva Films production.
The “Star Hunt” host was already seated inside the cinema when a woman approached her, much to Chiu’s surprise. (See the 05:48 mark in the video below.)
While the conversation wasn’t audible, a description in the video, captured and uploaded by StarPhotogs on YouTube, narrated that the “ticket holder” asked the actress to leave the seat, as it belonged to her.
At one point, Chiu looked in Lim’s direction as the actor was seated in the row directly in front of her. Chiu and her companions did eventually transfer seats, according to the video description, but that was no longer recorded.
In a tweet reacting to this story Wednesday night, Chiu confirmed that she did have to transfer seats, but that it was "nothing biggy" as both her and the ticket holder got to see the movie anyway.
"Let's talk about how good the movie is, and not this small incident," she wrote.
Chiu’s presence at the “Miss Granny” premiere delighted long-time fans of “KimXi,” her tandem with Lim. Along with the hashtag promoting the event, the actress’ name became a trending topic on Twitter as photos of her attendance made the rounds online.
