MANILA -- It was Kris Aquino who convinced 25-year-old Kim Chiu to agree to play a mistress in their upcoming movie "Etiquette for Mistresses."
In the movie, which also stars Iza Calzada and a comebacking Claudine Barretto, Aquino's character teaches Chiu's character about the finer points of becoming a mistress.
Aquino said she asked the former "Pinoy Big Brother" teen winner to do the movie because of its "powerful" message.
"Sinabi ko kay Kimmy gawin mo ito kasi may powerful message ito sa kabataan na pagpapasukin mo ang ganitong klaseng buhay, be prepared for the consequences and seriously there are very big consequences," she said on "Kris TV" on Tuesday.
"Klaruhin natin -- hindi ito glorification ng pagiging kabit kasi makikita natin 'yung pain na pagdadaanan," she stressed.
For her part, Chiu admitted that she initially felt nervous about the project because she didn't know how her fans would react.
"Parang natakot ako sa reaction ng mga fans, reaction ng mga tao, sa role ko na ganoon. Then nung nabasa ko 'yung script hindi naman pala," she said.
"Pero given the chance na makasama ko kayo and sila Ms. Iza and Ms. Clau, si Cheena at si direk Chito (Rono), parang na-challenge ako at 'yung role is also challenging. Nine years na ako sa showbiz, why not kumuha ako ng challenging ng role."
