He could only muster the word "sorry" and nothing else when asked about what he would tell his grandfather, who died some two months ago, if he had the chance to.
Christian Bables made the tearful apology as he spoke of his regret over neglecting his grandfather in an interview on "Tonight With Boy Abunda" on Tuesday.
The actor explained that he became distant from his "tatay" when he thought that he was not proud of him. He found out a little too late that his grandfather always told their neighbors of the awards he won, and the TV and movie roles he got.
"Nagising na lang ako, wala na siya. Late na ang lahat," Bables said, sharing that the biggest lesson he learned was: "Hangga't nandiyan iyong tao, you make the most out of your time."
Bables' grandfather died in May after falling into a coma. Bables said that he was "deeply pained" by the passing, and that the "most painful goodbyes are the ones that are never said."
He was on the late-night talk to show to promote his movie, "Signal Rock," which is part of the Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino this month. He also mentioned his role in "Halik," an upcoming teleserye.
