MANILA - Representatives of actress and Caloocan City councilor Marjorie Barretto shot down speculations that she gave birth in the United States, according to a statement by Boy Abunda on "SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon."
Abunda said that Barretto's manager, June Rufino insisted that Baretto had never left the country to give birth.
"Nakasalubong ko po kanina si June Rufino dahil pabulong ngayon na sinasabi na di umano ay nagsilang si Marjorie Barretto sa America. Hindi po ito totoo. Si Marge ay nasa Quezon City at hindi nagbuntis at hindi nagsilang," Abunda said.
Marjorie, the sister of actresses Claudine and Gretchen Barretto, denied allegations last year that she was allegedly pregnant by Caloocan Mayor Recom Echiverri. Pregnancy rumors swirled after Marjorie was reported to be chronically absent from work.
In March this year, Gretchen defended her sister, saying she was not expecting a baby. Gretchen insisted the allegations were used to tarnish her sister's name "simple because she is an effective public servant."
Marjorie also said the "malicious reports" were dirty tactics allegedly perpetrated by two people planning to run in the 2010 elections.
