MANILA – Maris Racal, who is tagged “Davao's Singing Sunshine,” was reunited with her family after staying inside the “Pinoy Big Brother” (PBB) house for almost three months.
During the Saturday episode of the reality show, Racal, her parents and sister were supposed to perform a number together – but only through an LED screen -- as part of the housemates’ weekly task.
The teen housemate, however, was surprised when her family members suddenly emerged on stage to join her in singing “Better Together.”
With their weekly task in her mind, Racal continued to sing until the end of the song despite wanting to hug and kiss her parents and sister.
Kuya, meanwhile, was kind enough to grant Racal and her family 100 seconds to catch up.
“We are very very proud of you. Magpakabait ka lang dito sa bahay,” Racal’s father said.
“I love you anak, we are proud of you,” the housemate’s mother said.
As all of them were in tears, the teen housemate was not able to say anything to her parents and sister. She, however, told Kuya later on how much she appreciated their 100-second reunion.
“Hindi ko na po nagandahan 'yung gitara ko kanina, pati pagkanta ko kasi excited na ako makita sila. Miss ko na po sila. First time ko nawala sa kanila ng ganito katagal tapos nakikita ko si Papa, first time ko siya nakita umiyak ng ganun pati si Mama at 'yung kapatid ko. Kaya okay lang kahit pangit yung performance ko kanina, basta nagkita kami,” she said.
A daughter of a folk singer in Davao, Racal grew up with music. She previously said the reason she joined "PBB" was so she could show more of her skills.
