MANILA, Philippines - Actress Assunta de Rossi said on Wednesday that there is no truth to rumors saying that she is no longer happy with her married life.

A teary-eyed de Rossi said false stories about her troubled marriage with Negros Occidental Rep. Jules Ledesma have traumatized her deeply, causing her to stop talking about her personal life in public.

She made it clear, though, that she is currently having a great time both at home and in showbiz.

"Wala na akong masasabi sa personal life ko kasi sobrang positibo at baka ma-kornihan pa kayo at nobody cares naman. Na-trauma na ako from last year sa dami nang nag-imbento, sa dami ng nagsinungaling," she said in an interview during the press conference of her newest show, ABS-CBN's remake of popular Mexican telenovela "Maria la del Barrio."

"When it comes to my personal life, you know you are saying na positibo and honest eh lahat binabaliktad pa rin. So I'm avoiding na hindi na ako magkukwento kahit kailan."

On rumors that she feels sad about not having a baby, de Rossi said, "God is what makes you happy, not kids. It's not the solution to everything, not even money. So it's really faith in God and if you have faith in God, you can have everything. Hindi ka magkukulang sa buhay. 'Yun lang ang tingin ng tao pero para sa iyo, punung-puno ka na."

Meanwhile, de Rossi shared that she is happy being a part of the "Maria la del Barrio" remake. She plays the character of Maria's mother.

Maria, the lead character, will be portrayed by young actress Erich Gonzales.

"I'm very honored, I'm so happy kasi ang ganda ng project na ito. Ang ganda ng role at siyempre magaling ang director," she said.

Aside from Gonzales and de Rossi, other stars in ABS-CBN's "Maria la del Barrio" include Enchong Dee, Paw Diaz, Jake Roxas, Katya Santos, Gio Alvarez, Atoy Co, Jane Oineza, Badjie Martiz, K Brosas, Ian Veneracion and Angel Aquino.

The series is directed by Rory Quintos.
