MANILA -- Thirteen-year-old Darren Espanto, dubbed as the "Total Performer," rocked the crowd and the judges with his performances in the grand finals of "The Voice Kids."
On the show's live episode on Saturday, the 4 finalists -- Espanto, Lyca Garainod, Darlene Vibares and Juan Karlos Labajo -- went through 2 rounds of performances.
For the Power Ballad round, Espanto sang the Basil Valdez classic, "Ngayon," which earned him a standing ovation from the three coaches.
Amazed at Espanto's performance, Broadway star Lea Salonga left a warning to older performers.
Espanto's coach, Sarah Geronimo, also praised the young performer.
She added that Espanto, despite his talent, never showed superiority, and instead, listened to his coach.
"Never kang naging confident, you showed your coachability, your ability to listen to your coach. Nakikinig ka, but may sarili kang desisyon."
For the Upbeat Round, Espanto sang and danced to Justin Bieber's hit song "Somebody to Love".
Geronimo believed that Espanto's performance highlighted his talent, living up to the tag "total performer."
