MANILA -- The first group of performers for each team battled it out on the second season of "The Voice Kids", with the coaches choosing their respective team's first artist who will move on to the next round.
On Saturday's episode, three young artists were chosen to move on to the next round of competition.
Broadway star Lea Salonga grouped together Aihna Imperial, Jonalyn Pepito and Jeomar Lazarraga. The three performed Apo Hiking Society's "Bawat Bata," much to the delight of the coaches.
Pepito is the first member of "FamiLEA" to move on to the next round.
Bamboo Mañalac, on the other hand, went for Benedict Inciong, an 11-year-old from Lipa City, who bested two other members of Kamp Kawayan, namely 12-year-old Sim Teves and fellow Batangueno Christian Panso.
The trio performed Owl City's "Fireflies," which earned praises from online viewers.
Pepito and Inciong will be joined by Francis Lim of Team Sarah.
Lim went against teammates Gift Cerna and Alyssa Terese Celo in the battle rounds, performing Charice's hit song "Pyramid."
Each team will have six members by the end of the Battle Rounds.
"The Voice Kids," which is hosted by Luis Manzano, Robi Domingo and Yeng Constantino, airs Saturdays at 6:45 p.m. and Sundays at 7:30 p.m.
