MANILA - Actor-director Eric Quizon, the son of the late comedy king Dolphy, said he was not aware of the problems that led to the breakup of his father's former partner, singer Zsa Zsa Padilla, and architect-boyfriend Conrad Onglao.
"Of course I got shocked the first time I found out kasi alam ko ikakasal na sila, eh. Iniimbita na nga niya ako, eh, 'Oh, you're going to my wedding.' Sabi ko, of course count me in, sabi ko sa kanya," Quizon told Push in an interview.
He continued: "I never suspected anything. She seemed very happy and kapag nagkikita ko naman sila parang masaya naman yung relationship nila. So, I never thought that something like this will happen."
Quizon also shared that Padilla did not reach out to him for advice, adding he reached out to the former "The Story of Us" actress after the failed engagement. "I texted her when it happened. I said, we're just here for you."
Padilla first went public with her relationship with Onglao in April 2014, during a concert of veteran performer Gary Valenciano. Their split was confirmed by Padilla's daughter, Karylle, last May.
Both Padilla and Onglao have remained mum about the cause of the breakup, but the popular architect released a statement claiming that the relationship was the "best thing that ever happened" to him.
"I love and respect her a lot and whatever issues we have are between us and hopefully we can work it out and who knows maybe get back again," Onglao said. "She's the best thing that ever happened to me, ever!
