MANILA – Alessandra de Rossi admits she did not really want to play the role of Valentina in the 2005 TV adaptation of “Darna.”

Looking back, however, de Rossi could not say she regrets accepting the villain role because it literally gave her a roof above her head.

“Everyone knows naman na ayaw ko gawin 'yung Valentina from the beginning. Pero kasi when you look back, lalo na nitong pandemic, because of Valentina, nagtuloy-tuloy 'yung shows ko sa GMA although same role naman over and over, palit lang ng hair,” she said on Moster RX 93.1 Wednesday.

“It’s the same role na masama ugali, pumapatay, inggitera or whatever. But nakabili ako ng house. Ten years to pay. As soon as I paid the house in full, tapos na ako sa TV, ayaw ko na,” she added.

De Rossi said her house alone is enough reason to be thankful she was cast as Valentina.

“How can you regret that part kung nabigyan ka niya nang wala kang monthly rent during pandemic. Salamat pa rin at nangyari siya. Sana hindi because 'yun nga as I said, gusto ko lagi good vibes sana and maganda 'yung message ng character, maganda 'yung message ng story. Kasi 'yun na lang ang iiwan mo kapag namatay ko so siyempre gusto mo okay. But because of Valentina, may bahay ako. Okay na 'yun,” she said.

As an actress, de Rossi said she is the type who really commits and gets into every character.

When asked why she always goes all out even with the risks, de Rossi said: “Dedicated ako only because gusto ko 'yung ginagawa ko.”

“Yung iba kasi basta project, blessing iyan, work iyan. Okay ako sa ganung point of view. Pero ako kasi, kung hindi ko talaga type 'yung story or feeling ko [walang] matutulong sa world or sa filmography ko, huwag na natin gawin. Kung hindi lang din ako dedicated diyan, matutulog na lang ako sa house,” she said.

Currently, de Rossi shared that she’s working on a movie with Piolo Pascual where she is both the writer and the director.
