MANILA – Jake Cuenca told off a netizen for insinuating that the actor is being paid to support ABS-CBN.
On Twitter, Cuenca stressed that he is fighting for the network on his own free will.
“Nothing, not a cent. In fact, my contract is cancelled. I might have even paid to go to QC today for gas. I went to ABS-CBN on my own free will,” he said.
In a separate tweet, the actor explained why he considers the network his home.
“I’ve been in ABA for 14 years straight. Before I got here I was just about to migrate to Spain because I couldn’t even call acting a career till ABS-CBN gave me a shot,” he said.
Cuenca and his girlfriend, beauty queen Kylie Verzosa, were among the many celebrities who rallied with employees of ABS-CBN during a noise barrage protest on Saturday, following the decision of lawmakers to shut down the network for good last July 10.
“If I learned anything today, (it) is that we are not alone. Hindi dapat tayo matakot. Marami po tayo at dapat ipaglaban natin (ang) bahay natin. Kapamilya po tayo forever,” he said.
