MANILA – Matteo Guidicelli lit a candle on Saturday night in solidarity with his ABS-CBN family.
Through an Instagram post, Guidicelli shared that he “took a moment and prayed for each and every (ABS-CBN) employee some of which are close to my heart from the years we spent together.”
“Hold on tight, we will rise again,” he said as thousands of Kapamilya employees stand to lose their jobs following the decision of lawmakers to shut down the network for good on July 10.
A former Star Magic talent, Guidicelli’s last TV projects with ABS-CBN include “Bagani” and “Dolce Amore.”
More recently, his documentary “Ranger G” was released through the network’s streaming platform iWant.
Last July 15, ABS-CBN Corp. announced it would cease the operations of some of its businesses and lay off workers effective August 31, 2020.
The network said retrenching workers was the "only way to ensure the continued employment" of the rest of its employees.
ABS-CBN did not give a figure on how many would be laid off in the ongoing process.
However, it said that the company would be "paying out separation and retirement benefits and providing job placement programs."
