MANILA — Liza Soberano is the latest A-list celebrity to launch her own YouTube channel, dubbed "Life with Liza."
While she is very happy that a lot of people watched, liked and subscribed to her new channel, Soberano reminded her followers to not forget to give their attention to issues that matter, saying her vlog is actually not the most important thing going on right now.
“I’ve been seeing a lot of my kapamilya’s express great grief over the loss of our company (ABS-CBN) and sadly their jobs. Many of the employees are already struggling amidst this pandemic and losing their jobs puts an even bigger burden upon them,” she wrote on Twitter.
Leading by example, Soberano said: “Let’s continue to express how this makes all of us feel in hopes that our voices will be heard and the people responsible for this will gain empathy and understanding.”
The Kapamilya actress also has a message to those who easily dismissed the plight of ABS-CBN workers whose source of livelihood is on the line.
“To those who said ‘find another job,’ if it were that easy there wouldn’t be an outburst of emotions. So many people in the Philippines have lost their jobs in the past few months. Our unemployment rate in the Philippines is at a record high,” she said.
Soberano, 22, has been one of the most vocal supporters of ABS-CBN amid its franchise woes.
As early as January, Soberano was among the first high-profile celebrities to make a public appeal to President Rodrigo Duterte in light of his pronouncements against ABS-CBN.
