MANILA – A young band member from Dinagat Islands is the last member of Team Sarah on the second season of ''The Voice Kids.''
Owen Garcia, 13, performs in a band with his elder brother, who plays lead guitar. They have joined several band competitions before.
For his audition, Garcia sang Aerosmith’s “Amazing” and coaches Sarah Geronimo and Lea Salonga turned for him.
“Sorry, my rock and roll brother,” coach Bamboo said. “Nagustuhan ko sa boses mo, may presence.” But he added that the contestant was shaky at some points in the song.
“Ang ganda lang ng tapon ng boses mo," Salonga said, explaining that she turned for him at the last moment because Garcia’s voice is at a stage where it may change anytime.
“Then you know what? I figured this kid’s too good. Figure it out later. You’ve got something really special,” the Broadway star added.
Geronimo said she will be ready to handle Garcia even if his voice goes to a lower range.
Garcia completed Geronimo’s team in the season of the talent search, joining Alexia Dator, Alysia Celo, Amira Medina, Andrew Patuasic, Francis Lim, Gianluigi Ale, Jolianne Salvado, Joshua Torino, Ken Jhon Mebrano, Kenshley Abad, Kristel Belo, Krystle Campos, Kyle John Echarri, Gift Cerna, Mandy Sevillana, Rock Opong, and Zephanie Dimaranan.
