MANILA — Romina finally gained the upperhand in her tug-of-war with Daniela, at least in a version of “Kadenang Ginto” with Vice Ganda and Anne Curtis in the roles of the feuding Mondragons.
The co-hosts were doing an impromptu spoof of the hit afternoon drama during the Tawag ng Tanghalan segment of “It’s Showtime” on Tuesday, when their banter turned physical in an uproarious TV moment.
Vice Ganda had been feigning offense over a regular dancer’s imitation of his hairstyle with a large ribbon, leading to a skit about a mother, Curtis, defending her daughter, the dancer, similar to “Kadenang Ginto.”
Curtis appeared to have backup, however, with fellow mainstays Jhong Hilario and Vhong Navarro attempting to carry out their usual prank of carrying and shaking Vice Ganda.
When that attempt failed, Curtis made a last effort to hatch the prank. The resulting physical struggle ended up with a laughing Curtis on the floor.
“No, no, no, Daniela! Walang hiya ka talaga! Panahon na para umalis ka sa bahay na ito!” Vice Ganda, in character as Romina, told his co-host.
“Welcome to physical hosting!” he added, in jest.
Curtis and Vice Ganda’s banter, whether physical or through a sparring of jokes, has become a source of amusement for “It’s Showtime” viewers over the last decade.
Their chemistry is expected to be replicated on the big screen on Christmas Day, as the real-life friends finally team up for the first time in a movie, titled “Momalland.”
