MANILA - Singer Jaya made her surprise debut as a Kapamilya on Saturday, joining the judges' table on the rebooted "Tawag ng Tanghalan."
The country's "Queen of Soul" appeared on "It's Showtime" one day after her primetime series on a rival network wrapped.
"This all happens so fast," she told the crowd after serenading them with a string of ballads.
"I'm excited to start my new life here," she said, all but confirming her rumored transfer to ABS-CBN.
Jaya joins Yeng Constantino, Erik Santos, and industry veteran Rey Valera on the judging panel.
Jaya, whose real name is Maria Luisa Ramsey, is the daughter of the late Elizabeth Ramsey. She has released more than 11 studio albums throughout her 25-year career.
Jaya is the first Filipino recording artist to chart in the US Billboard Hot 100. Her debut single "If You Leave Me Now" peaked at 44 in 1989. She has been associated with a rival network for the past 16 years.
