Veteran actor Pocholo Montes dies

MANILA - (UPDATED) Veteran actor Pocholo Montes passed away on July 15, according to a Facebook post of his son Franz Josef Montes.

According to the post, the actor's remains were cremated at 1 p.m. on Thursday.

"We have 9 days memorial services and we are still finalizing it at the church here in Fairview Quezon City. On, July 22 will be the overnight vigil and July 23 will be the interment," the younger Montes wrote in his post.

Montes, whose movies included "Orapronobis," "Nagsimula Sa Puso," "Alabang Girls" and indie film "Layang Bilanggo," was suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), according to a report from entertainment website Pep.

Montes, who appeared in ABS-CBN soaps "Angelito: Batang Ama" and "Kailangan Ko'y Ikaw," was confined due to complications, including infection and pneumonia, the Pep report added.

Montes was also in the famous Jollibee commercial where he says, "Sa Jollibee? Sigurado ka bang sa Jollibee?" The commercial has been listed by netizens as among the most memorable TV advertisements.
