MANILA—The top 8 of "Idol Philippines" were tasked to perform some of the country's most streamed songs for the third set of live rounds, which started Saturday.
First up was Fatima Louise Lagueras, who chose to cover Ben&Ben's "Kathang Isip" as she tried to bounce back from her lackluster turn on the "Idol" stage last week that was criticized by the judges.
This time around though, Lagueras had one of them on their feet with her highly emotional rendition.
"Napatayo ako hindi dahil ito iyong pinakamaganda mong performance pero tumayo ako kasi iyong hinahanap ko next week, nahanap ko," Vice Ganda told her. "Narinig ko iyong boses mo at naramdaman ko iyong puso mo."
Moira dela Torre commended her for picking herself up from her disappointing performance last week, while James Reid said that he hopes to see her back again for another set of live rounds.
Regine Velasquez was a little hesitant praising her, however, saying that she felt that Lagueras was not as confident as when they first heard her. "Don't overthink," she said.
"Don't try to impress us because we're already impressed. Just sing from your heart," Velasquez added.
Hosted by Billy Crawford, "Idol Philippines" airs Saturdays after "Home Sweetie Home" and Sundays after "Wansapanataym."
