MANILA – Sorry, but no fashion show this year.
This was one of the announcements made by an FHM Philippines editor following the magazine’s release of its list of sexiest women in the country for 2016.
Unlike in previous editions where celebrities in the list took to the stage in sexy apparel, this year's event will be very different in line with the magazine’s decision to “change its look and approach.”
For this year, FHM said it will hold red-carpet event on July 26, which definitely will be graced by Jessy Mendiola, who was named the sexiest woman in an online poll.
To preserve the element of surprise, even Mendiola decided to keep mum on what could be expected of her during the event.
“'Yun ang dapat niyong abangan. Malay niyo naka-t-shirt lang ako at pantalon,” she jokingly said.
Mendiola even teased that people should watch out for the event because it might be hosted by Luis Manzano, who is currently being romantically linked to her.
According to the editors, the event will feature performances from guests artists, which they also refused to divulge.
Meanwhile, Mendiola shared how her new title has changed her perspective in life.
“Mas minahal ko 'yung sarili ko. Mas natutukan ko 'yung sarili ko. Mas naging confident ako. Masaya ako na pinili nila ako at nagustuhan nila na sexy ako,” she said.
Does being the “sexiest woman” entail a huge responsibility?
“It's a big responsibility because you're a role model. They see you as someone to look up to. You should be fit all the time. You should take care of yourself,” she said.
More than anything, Mendiola said topping the list has helped her be more thankful of what she has “no matter what my size is.”
“I think still it's about the personality and how you carry yourself. I think that's sexy when you know yourself and you are strong enough to stand up for something,” she said.
