MANILA — ABS-CBN is set to air the 2017 South Korean romantic fantasy "Hwayugi" starting Monday, July 9.
The series, which stars Lee Seung-Gi and Oh Yeon-seo, will debut on the ABS-CBN primetime block after "Since I Found You."
A modern Korean take on the Chinese classic novel "Journey to the West," the series follows the romance between a powerful but mischievous immortal Son Oh-gong (Seung-Gi) and Yumi (Yeon-Seo), a human who has the ability to see spirits and demons.
Son Oh-gong is bound to a protective role towards Yumi after she sets him free from imprisonment 25 years in the past.
Seung-Gi first rose to popularity in the country as the male lead in the 2010 romantic comedy "My Girlfriend is a Gumiho," which also aired in ABS-CBN.
