MANILA, Philippines (1st UPDATE) – International singing sensation Charice flew back to the United States Monday morning after her much-applauded rendition of the national anthem at the inauguration of President Benigno Aquino III on June 30.
Charice was with her mother, Raquel, when she took a morning flight to New York City.
Before boarding the plane, the 18-year-old songstress said her schedule for 2 days will be hectic. She told ABS-CBN News that her commitments in the US include a photo shoot for fashion and celebrity magazine Teen Vogue.
She said she will also meet with representatives from celebrity magazine People, music magazine Billboard, and Rolling Stone, a magazine that features music and popular culture.
Aside from her pictorials and meetings, Charice told abs-cbnNEWS.com in a separate interview that she is scheduled to attend voice lessons as part of her preparation for hit TV series "Glee."
Meeting with Oprah Winfrey?
After fulfilling her commitments in the US, the singer will fly back to Asia to promote her first global self-titled album. Her stopovers include Macau, Japan and South Korea.
"Sa July 24 po babalik ako sa ‘Star King’ sa Korea. Doon po ako na-discover ni Ms. Ellen De Generes at Ms. Oprah Winfrey. So, babalik ako doon sa July 24," Charice said.
A report said Charice will meet with Winfrey, Forbes magazine’s most powerful celebrity, in Korea, but the information is still unverified.
Winfrey, one of Charice’s godmothers, is said to be involved in the Filipino singer’s international career. –With a report from Reyma Buan-Deveza, abs-cbnNEWS.com
