MANILA, Philippines -- Enrique Gil, who is touted as the "Next Ultimate Leading Man" on local TV, is adding "recording artist" to his list of credentials.
The 21-year-old actor is set to release his first debut album under Star Records, the ABS-CBN recording outfit announced in its official Facebook page early this week.
In a video accompanying the announcement, Gil says the album will be out in record bars nationwide "very soon."
Having started his showbiz career in 2008, Gil is more known as an actor, with lead roles in several Kapamilya series, including "Mula sa Puso" (2011) and "Budoy" (2012).
For the 2012 series "Princess and I," wherein he also starred, Gil recorded a cover of the OPM hit "Tunay na Ligaya" for inclusion in the soap's official soundtrack album.
This year, in his biggest acting role to date, Gil is cast opposite actress Julia Montes in the drama series "Muling Buksan ang Puso," which is set to premiere during ABS-CBN's Primetime Bida block on July 8.
Directed by Manny Palo ("Sta. Niña," "A Moment in Time") and Nuel Naval ("A Secret Affair," "Magkaribal"), the soap boasts star-studded ensemble cast, including showbiz veterans Susan Roces, Dante Rivero and Pilar Pilapil, along with Agot Isidro, Jestoni Alarcon and Cherie Gil.
