MANILA, Philippines – The ABS-CBN drama series “Dahil sa Pag-ibig” concluded its run on a high note last Friday based on the latest TV ratings data.

The teleserye’s grand finale garnered a national TV rating of 33.9% compared to its rival program on GMA, “One True Love” which only got 12.1%, data from Kantar Media showed.

Despite its success, it’s unlikely that the series will have a sequel.

"Na-resolve naman lahat ng conflict so we're happy. We ended on a high note and maganda 'yung conclusion ng bawat character, maganda 'yung resolution so I don't see a book two happening," its star Piolo Pascual has said.

"Maganda 'yung nasimulan mo, maganda 'yung natapos mo, move on na tayo, okay 'yun, masaya 'yun," he added.

In the final episode that aired last Friday, the life of Leo Valderama (Christopher de Leon) was placed on the line after it was discovered that the governor was the one who murdered the father of Edson (Rafael Rosell).

Father Alfred (Pascual), however, rescued his adoptive father despite all of his mistakes. Because of this, Leo realized how much his son loved him and decided to accept the punishment of all the bad things that he has done.

After many years of lies, anger, and vengeance, Oliver (Jericho Rosales), Agnes (Maricar Reyes), Jasmin (Cristine Reyes) and Alfred turned their backs on the past and faced the new beginning of their lives altogether.

Alfred presided in the marriage of Agnes and Oliver, his former nemesis. Meanwhile, the priest and his childhood love Jasmin have resolved to part ways after their tumultuous romance.
