Shaina Magdayao and Dingdong Dantes have teamed up to raise funds for the construction of an "eco-camp" in Siargao that would provide agricultural training for out-of-school youth.
Magdayao said her SMILE Cares Foundation and Dantes' Yes Pinoy Foundation will work to raise about P25 million to put up the school in a 2-hectare plot on the Surigao del Norte island.
“I just want to maximize it while I'm still here in the business and it all started with a small dream and intention to help the children, and now ‘yung dream namin ang laki na niya,” Magdayao told the Philippines' Ultimate Showbiz Hub.
PBA player LA Tenorio of Barangay Ginebra, also a representative of SMILE, joined the two actors in Quezon City on Thursday, as they signed a memorandum of agreement for the project.
"Sobrang masaya ako kasi it's been my advocacy ever since. Hindi naman kailangan malaman ng mga tao kung ano ang ginagawa mo outside your profession," Tenorio said in a PBA Rush video.
Magdayao said the project, which aims to send unfortunate kids to school, has also encouraged her to continue her college education.
