‘Paano Kita Mapasasalamatan’: Meet the person who ‘saved’ Kim Chiu 1
Kim Chiu gave the person who saved her from quitting showbiz a gift in the newest episode of "Paano Kita Mapasasalamatan."

MANILA -- Kim Chiu had just experienced a series of events -- including surviving a possibly-fatal ambush attempt which the actress said was a case of mistaken identity -- that pushed her down towards the "lowest" point of her life.

She had contemplated quitting the industry and leaving the country, traumatized by the constant pinging sound from her social media apps telling her of yet another hate comment for her.

But eventually, one of those turned out to be different from the rest, a hopeful open letter about not giving up and turning a negative into a chance to spread positivity, especially in this pandemic.

Saturday's episode of "Paano Kita Mapasasalamatan" focused on the person who sent the letter to Chiu, and his story of how he overcame his own set of challenges that led to him writing it.

Adrian Crisanto is a marketing professional.

He finished college at University of the Philippines Los Baños, majoring in communication arts, despite the difficulties posed by being kicked out of his home, along with his sister, by their father.

In his appearance on Judy Ann Santos' show, he shared how he quickly learned that college is just one of the first roadblocks in life, with the "real world" presenting more and even bigger obstacles.

He recalled the time he was forced to set aside his degree and train to become a call center agent.

Thankfully, he found a better job, one that suited his skills more, thanks to some help from a friend.

Though he would question whether he did have what it takes to make it in their highly competitive industry, to the point of almost giving up, Crisanto persisted and eventually arrived at that moment -- writing that open letter to Chiu, knowing how it felt to lose heart.

In a way, the show noted, it was kind of fitting that someone who learned most of what made him into what he is today outside the classroom was also the one to help Chiu emerge stronger and better from the bashing she received because of her "classroom" analogy.

As thanks, Chiu gave Cristanto a pair of headphones.

She explained that she wanted it to symbolize how she was saved because she listened to his advice.
