MANILA - It was an unusual song choice, and one that did not resonate with one of the coaches of "The Voice Kids" until the latter half of the performance.
On Saturday's episode of the hit TV competition, Mandy Sevillana, who hails from Makati City, sang Aegis' "Hesus."
It managed to convince Sarah Geronimo to turn her chair. According to the pop star's fellow coaches, Lea Salonga and Bamboo Mañalac, the two are a perfect fit for each other.
"Sorry at hindi ako napaikot for you kasi may nakaikot na maganda at mabat na iniidolo mo rin," Salonga told Sevillana, a self-confessed fan of Geronimo.
For her part, Geronimo commended Sevillana's peppy attitude and her ability to cook at a very young age.
"Imagine mo maliit pa lang, marunong na magluto, mabait pang bata tapos magaling pang kumanta. Naku, tadhana ito," she said.
"Sana po maging kaboses kita at sana po maging kasing ganda mo po ako," Sevillana replied.
Sevillana is the 10th member of Team Sarah. She is the only recruit of the night for the "The Breakup Playlist" star.
Meanwhile, Mañalac managed to add another member to his team, namely Nikki Apolinar, while Salonga got two new members in Kiyana Bongat and Luke James Alford.
"The Voice Kids", which is hosted by Robi Domingo and Yeng Constatino, airs Saturdays at 6:45 p.m. and Sundays at 7:30 p.m.
