'Hindi kami nagmamadali,' actress says of marrying Luis
MANILA - "Darna" star Angel Locsin had few words when asked to respond to the good wishes of Jennylyn Mercado in relation to her supposed plans of settling down with Luis Manzano, the former boyfriend of the "Rhodora X" actress.
Locsin was cornered on the subject Thursday during a media huddle confirming her role as Darna in Star Cinema's upcoming movie adaptation of the Mars Ravelo-created character.
Last Tuesday, Mercado was asked if she had any wish for Manzano, her boyfriend of two years until late last year, amid talks of a possible wedding with Locsin in the near future.
While Mercado hesitated at first to answer the question, she went on to say she wishes the couple well.
Reacting to Mercado's statement, Locsin said: "Salamat. Thank you. Happy for you. Thank you. Wala akong masasabi. Ang weird naman, 'diba?"
Manzano and Locsin got back together in February this year, a month after the actress controversially admitted in a press conference that she was still in love with the TV host four years after they broke up.
Before reconciling with Manzano, whom she admitted to avoiding for two years, Locsin was in a relationship with football player Phil Younghusband. She confirmed her breakup with Younghusband in October last year, the same month Mercado and Manzano admitted their separation.
NO RUSH TO GET MARRIED
Meanwhile, Locsin clarified speculation that she and Manzano are planning to get married sometime next year, supposedly before the TV host runs for office in the 2016 elections.
Napag-usapan naman namin 'to, as in long time ago pa."
The actress also emphasized that Manzano's plans to join politics are not yet definite, although he earlier said on "Aquino & Abunda Tonight" that he is considering running for Lipa mayor or Batangas governor, both posts held by his mother Vilma Santos at different times.
So, yes, napag-usapan kung napag-usapan.
