MANILA - Kapamilya star Vice Ganda was honored as one of the Ten Outstanding Manilans as the country's capital marked its 444th anniversary.
Born Jose Marie Borja Viceral, the "It's Showtime" host was one of the 10 awardees recognized for their exemplary contribution to the City of Manila.
Ganda, who hails from Tondo, Manila, studied Political Science at Far Eastern University in Manila.
Before his showbiz career, Ganda worked at comedy bars in Ermita.
Currently, Ganda is busy with hosting job and movie for this year's Metro Manila Film Festival.
Also awarded were William Teng, chairman Solar Entertainment; Robert S. Jaworski, former senator and professional basketball player; Eufrocina A. Sulla, Senior Deputy City Prosecutor; Carmelita Salandanan Manahan, Associate Justice of the Court of Appeals; Vincent Maniquiz Tañada, playwright, actor, director, producer; Mercedes S. Pascual, vendor at Arranque Market; Lorenzo B. Alconera, city electrician; Edgar A. Maranan, biotechnologist; and Robert Y. So, environmentalist.
Meanwhile, the Gawad Gat Andres Bonifacio Award was given to Mr. Henry Sy, Sr. of SM Group of Companies.
