He's usually the one knocking out bad guys. But in "La Luna Sangre," Richard Gutierrez is jumping off the hero bandwagon.
In an interview on "Tonight with Boy Abunda" on Friday, the actor, who will portray the series' big villain Sandrino, explained his decision to accept a role he's not all too familiar with.
"Since pupunta na rin ako dito sa ABS-CBN, why not make it different?" he reasoned. "Do something different and make it fresh. As an actor, that's very challenging for me."
According to Gutierrez, Sandrino, described as the "lord of vampires," is a misunderstood soul who found himself beholden to a prophecy. "He had no options growing up. Parang iyong buhay niya ay itinakda na para sa kanya."
Directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina, "La Luna Sangre" will begin airing on Monday. It stars Daniel Padilla, Kathryn Bernardo, Angel Locsin, and John Lloyd Cruz.
