MANILA — Bea Alonzo neither confirmed nor denied whether a reunion project with John Lloyd Cruz is in the works, following the circulation of photos of them together in Palawan.
“Secret!” was Alonzo’s playful answer to ABS-CBN News, when asked whether her time spent with Cruz in El Nido involved a professional matter.
Photos that surfaced on social media early this week included one that shows what appears to be a camera crew near the onscreen couple.
Alonzo addressed the speculation Friday on the sidelines of a thanksgiving party celebrating the box-office success of “Eerie,” her recent horror film which has so far earned P201 million globally.
Turning serious, she said, referring to Cruz: “I was happy to see him. We had a good time there, we were with friends also. But I can’t disclose what it’s for, yet! Pero, ano ‘yan, surprise!”
Alonzo and Cruz had been long-time onscreen partners, dating back to the 2002 primetime drama “Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay,” until the actor’s hiatus from showbiz starting late 2017. to focus on his personal life, including being a father to his 1-year-old with partner Ellen Adarna.
“Matagal kaming hindi nagkita, but we never lost touch,” Alonzo said. “Nami-miss ko siyang makatrabaho. I’m sure maraming nakaka-miss din sa kanya na tao na manonood ng pelikula.”
Alonzo had just returned from Palawan when she attended the thanksgiving party on Friday, saying she only recently found out that photos of her meeting with Cruz was circulating online.
“Natutuwa ako na malaman na maganda ‘yung reactions ng mga tao. It makes me feel happy, kasi parang ang tagal na rin kasi naming nagkatrabaho, at ang tagal din naming nawala together onscreen. Overwhelming ‘yung reaction ng mga tao, I’m happy. Thank you sa lahat ng nagbigay ng comments,” she said.
