MANILA, Philippines (UPDATE) – Bench has followed in the footsteps of other local brands by allegedly hiring a Hollywood star to endorse its products, an entertainment columnist reported on Tuesday.

According to The Philippine Star's Ricky Lo, Bench tapped American actor Taylor Lautner to become its newest endorser.

Lo's source, however, did not say if Lautner, who rose to fame by playing Jacob Black in "The Twilight Saga," would model its shirts, pants or underwear.

"Gossip Girl" actor Ed Westwick flew to the Philippines after Penshoppe hired him.

Clothing brand Kamiseta previously tapped Natalie Portman to endorse its clothing line. Katie Holmes is Kamiseta's latest endorser.

However, Joyce Ramirez of PR Asia Worldwide, which brought Westwick to the Philippines for Penshoppe, called the report "fake."

"It doesn't exist. There’s no authorization from the U.S. agency. It's illegal to use the name of an international artist without endorsement contracts," Ramirez told in a phone interview.

Penshoppe is one of the main competitors of Bench.
