Anne Curtis' action thriller "Buy Bust" is set to make its world premiere in New York, it was announced Monday.
The Erik Matti film was chosen as the closer for this years' New York Asian Film Festival, set to run from June 29 to July 15.
The movie tells the story of cop who finds herself trapped inside a dangerous slum area in Manila after a poorly planned buy-bust operation goes awry.
"Buy Bust" is being billed as one of the most ambitious action projects in local cinema history, employing more than 300 stuntmen and using over 250,000 grams of gunpowder.
A co-production between Reality Entertainment and Viva Films, "Buy Bust" also co-stars MMA star Brandon Vera, Nonie Buencamino, and Victor Neri.
Apart from "Buy Bust," Mikhail Red's "Neomanila," Treb Monteras' "Respeto," and Richard Somes' "We Will Not Die Tonight" will also be shown at the New York Asian Film Festival, along with Curtis' "Sid & Aya."
"Buy Bust" will be shown in Philippine cinemas on August 1.
