Douglas Quijano, one of the most powerful persons in the Philippine entertainment industry, was found dead in his home in Lucban town, Quezon province, Saturday morning.
A text message received by ABS-CBN News said Quijano was found dead around 10 a.m. in his home in Barangay Ayute, which he built three years ago after deciding to semi-retire from show business.
Senior Inspector Francis Pasno, Lucban police chief, said police found Quijano's body on the floor of his bedroom.
Pasno said police forced their way in to Quijano's room after the talent manager failed to respond to them. He said household helpers had been knocking on the door of the talent manager's room before they came.
A radio dzMM report said that according to a member of Quijano's household, the talent manager had complained Friday night that he was not feeling well, but refused to be brought to hospital.
Quijano is the manager of several prominent actors including Richard Gomez, brothers Jomari and Anjo Yllana and Joey Marquez. With a report from Tina Ganzon, ABS-CBN Southern Tagalog
