Brazilian model Daiana Menezes
MANILA, Philippines -- Brazilian model Daiana Menezes has brought her case of alleged domestic violence to a women's organization, days after cryptic posts on her social media accounts triggered concern for her welfare.
A source disclosed to ABS-CBN News on Tuesday that the 25-year-old model, through a representative, has raised her "situation" to a women's rights group.
Despite being a foreigner, Menezes can still pursue the case as long as it happened in the Philippines.
Menezes, who has been evasive of directly addressing the alleged case with the media, earlier said it may difficult to establish that an alleged incident of domestic violence indeed took place.
She has also yet to identify any persons involved in the alleged incident.
"My apologies to those who I had to ignore or not give details," Menezes said, unedited, early this week in a post on image-sharing service Instagram.
The post further read: "Even if I do, aside from looking DUMB MYSELF, I wish I had a CCTV or if I knew, record world do,but "ang sakit";it's a physical, sexual and emotional pain that can't be explained."
It added: "Besides there are two sides of the coin and I know the otehr side will fight for defense, since there's bipolar order, things can be turned around. I had witnesses BUT unfortunately they're paid to keep quiet."
Prior to the post explaining her silence on the matter, Menezes had shared a series of images pertaining to violence against women, including ones showing the words "No to rape," "Real Men Don't use Violence," and "There is no excuse for abuse."
Early this month, Menezes was all-smiles during a press event as she showed off a 4-carat diamond ring, given to her by outgoing Cagayan de Oro Rep. Jose Benjamin "Benjo" Benaldo."
