MANILA — Known for her emotion-filled performances, Sarah Geronimo appears to have moved viewers again with a song about unrequited love that has gone viral on social media.
On Twitter, Geronimo’s rendition of the Roselle Nava hit “Bakit Nga Ba Mahal Kita” continued to gain wide traction Tuesday with some 25,000 likes and over 5,000 retweets.
The tweet, from a Geronimo fan, asked the pop superstar: “Inaano ka namin, Sarah G?!”
Comments on the viral video echoed the sentiment, with many saying Geronimo’s “nakakapanakit” or hurtful version dredged up memories of heartbreak or longing.
Others drew amusement from the fact that, while they weren’t nursing a broken heart, Geronimo’s performance made them feel just that.
Geronimo’s take on “Bakit Nga Ba Mahal Kita” was part of the “Greatest Showdown” segment of ABS-CBN’s concert variety show “ASAP Natin ‘To,” which aired on June 9.
Geronimo, dubbed local showbiz’s “Pop Star Royalty,” is gearing up for a busy year ahead. She recently launched her makeup line, on top of juggling music and a movie project, and is expected to return as a coach on ABS-CBN’s “The Voice Kids.”
