Erik Matti has dismissed speculations that he has abandoned the director's chair for the upcoming "Darna" movie, telling his fans that he is not a "quitter."
A tabloid claimed that he has left the project, citing "unconfirmed reports" that surmised that he had problems with the busy schedule of lead star Liza Soberano.
"This is not true. Fake news," he told his followers on Instagram. "I’ve been with the Darna project for 5 years now and I am still here along with my team. I may be a hard ass but I’m not a quitter."
He explained that whenever he decides to sign on with a project, he makes it a point to "see it through to the end whether it's a tough climb or an easy one."
"I owe it to everyone who committed to the project to always see it through and be the last person to waver and have doubts about the project we embark on. And for 'Darna,' no matter the years we put in, our commitment to see it through stays. I am a finisher."
A release date for the "Darna" movie, which will be produced by Star Cinema, has yet to be released.
Angel Locsin was first slated to star in the movie but had to back out because of a spine injury.
