MANILA – A singing football heartthrob from Cebu City was the first contestant to join Sarah Geronimo’s team in the second season of “The Voice Kids.”
In the pilot episode of the talent show which aired on Saturday, 11-year-old Kyle Echarri performed his version of One Direction’s “Night Changes,” which immediately made Geronimo and Bamboo turn their chairs for him.
With both coaches fighting for Echarri, Bamboo said he will help the young singer to “navigate” his nervousness on stage as he felt exactly the same way when he was performing during his younger years.
As for Geronimo, she promised Echarri to help him become a total performer.
“Matutulungan kita na mas gumalaw pa, mas maging komportable gumalaw sa stage, i-build 'yung confidence mo. Ang cute, cute mo, napaka-raw mo. Sana magtulungan tayo na i-improve ka pa as an artist, as a performer,” she said.
Although some thought that Echarri would pick Bamboo because they share the same passion for football, the 11-year-old eventually chose Geronimo as his coach.
Asked why he decided to join Team Sarah, Echarri said: “Because I know her more than coach Bamboo.”
"The Voice Kids," which is hosted by Luis Manzano, Robi Domingo and Yeng Constantino, airs Saturdays at 6:45 p.m. and on Sundays at 7:30 p.m.
