MANILA -- New Kapamilya actor Vin Abrenica is excited about the upcoming "Maalaala Mo Kaya" (MMK) episode where he will partner with sexy star Jessy Mendiola.
Abrenica will portray the role of a band's lead vocalist who finds himself falling for a woman who loves him unconditionally. The episode is part of the 25th anniversary series of "MMK."
In an interview on "Tonight With Boy Abunda," Abrenica expressed his delight for the chance to act on "MMK," which is one of his favorite shows.
"Dati pinapanood ko lang ito. Kaya ngayong naging parte na ako nito, sobrang laki talaga para sa akin," he said.
"Sorry, nauna ako kuya," he quipped, teasing his brother Aljur Abrenica who is currently in another network.
A former TV5 talent, Abrenica officially became a Kapamilya last May.
When asked if he feels pressure regarding the tough competition on ABS-CBN, Abrenica said: "Naniniwala kasi ako sa hard work. So, ako gusto ko roots ko doon."
Comparisons
Meanwhile, Abrenica admitted that he is always being compared to his older brother, who grew up with a flair for music and the arts.
"Lumaki ako sa family na masakit sa aking sabihin na: it's always him," he said. "Kaya talaga ako pumasok sa reality search before, ayokong masabi lang na kapatid niya ako."
According to the younger Abrenica, this pushed him to work harder and excel in academics.
"Siya (Aljur) puso, ako brains," he quipped.
Now that he is in ABS-CBN, Abrenica aims to take advantage of the opportunity to be working with the industry's finest stars, whom he considers as his mentors.
