MANILA - ABS-CBN's top-rating game show for toddlers, "Bet On Your Baby," will be returning for a second season later this year, host Judy Ann Santos revealed on Thursday.

The first season of "Bet On Your Baby," a franchise of the original American format that premiered on ABC in April last year, ran for seven months until May 2014.

It consistently ranked among the 15 most watched programs in the Philippines throughout its run, according to Kantar Media. Last month, it placed 10th with an average nationwide rating of 19.5%.

According to Santos, the second season will start airing in August. She did not specify whether it will return to its Saturday night time slot.

"We are very, very happy na babalik ulit kami on air," Santos said during a thanksgiving celebration for the success of the show.

"Mas exciting [ang second season], mas maraming prizes silang makukuha, mas masaya, mas nakakanerbyos siguro. We are very happy na makakasama ko ulit 'yung staff," she added.

In "Bet On Your Baby," two- to three-year-old children are accompanied by their parents in a series of challenges. How well the parents can guess their respective babies' next move in these tests will determine the winner of the show.

'Always prepared'

Over 30 weeks, the debut season had 87 families competing and awarded over P15 million to winners in cash and prizes.

Recalling her first-time stint as a game show host on "Bet On Your Baby," Santos said, "Every after taping day, alam mong may napapasaya kang pamilya lalo na kapag nakukuha nila 'yung jackpot."

"I always pray at night thanking God na ginagamit niya akong instrument na nagpapasaya ako ng mga tao. Blessed ako for having such great staff and such good show, na nagkaroon ng faith ang ABS-CBN sa akin na gawin akong host ng 'Best On Your Baby,'" she said.

Admittedly, the management's announcement of a second season came as a surprise to Santos, whose two-year contract with ABS-CBN also includes a new drama series.

"Nabigla kaming lahat kasi hindi namin in-expect na may date na pala kasi, wala pa kaming naka-calendar na taping," she said.

"Pero ang blessing ay blessing. Sino naman ako para sabihing teka muna hindi pa ako prepared. We are always prepared for whatever na blessing na ibibigay sa amin na show, pelikula man or teleserye," Santos added.
