MANILA, Philippines -- Actress Ara Mina is planning to quit showbiz as proof that she is not using her court battle with sister Cristine Reyes as a mere "gimmick."

Mina on Tuesday said she is willing to prove that her dispute with Reyes, which she has brought to court, is not just a publicity stunt for her alleged plans to run in the upcoming 2013 elections.
The former sexy actress said this is far from the truth, and that she has since declined offers to work so her court case against Reyes would not be seen as a gimmick.
"Maraming naglalabasan na tatakbo ako, for publicity. To be honest hindi ako tumanggap ng mga trabaho para mapatunayan na seryoso 'to," Mina told ABS-CBN News at the Quezon City Regional Trial Court, where she filed her reply affidavit to Reyes' response to her charges.
Mina added that she is happy with the current state of her life and career, and revealed that she has long thought of quitting show business, especially in the wake of her public dispute with her younger sister.
"Hindi 'to pagpapaingay lang ng pangalan because accepted ko kung nasa'n ako and I'm happy. Kontento ako sa buhay ako, masaya ako," she said.
"Actually I'm thinking nga baka mag-quit na ako because of this eh, dahil kung 'yun ang gusto nilang palabasin -- na gusto kong umingay 'yung pangalan ko -- medyo matagal kong pinag-iisipan," Mina said.
In April, Mina filed charges of libel and grave coercion against Reyes. She had claimed that Reyes allegedly asked for her to turn over an SUV as payment for the remaining P1.8 million balance for a Quezon City townhouse they bought in 2011 for their mother. If not, Reyes allegedly threatened that she will continue her personal attacks against her.
