MANILA - "Pinoy Big Brother" has reduced the number of housemates up for eviction to two, after a challenge given to the nominees ended with an emotional twist in the episode of the reality show aired on Tuesday.
The nominated housemates -- Joshua Garcia, Ranty Fortento, and Aina Solano -- were given a chance to save themselves from the threat of eviction should they succesfully finish a challenge.
Each of them was tasked to escape from a locked jail cell using materials provided for them -- a rope, coat hangers, hooks, and a mop. The first one to do so would be removed from the list of nominees.
From the get-go, it was Fortento, a 26-year-old seaman from the province of Quezon, that proved his resourcefulness. In merely 15 minutes, Fortento managed to create a fishing rod to reel in the key which was meters away from their jail cells.
However, despite successfully grabbing the key, Fortento chose to give Garcia a chance.
He told fellow housemate Jane Oineza, whom he chose to accompany him throughout the challenge, that he felt partially responsible for the teen's nomination.
Dahil sa mga payo ko," he said referring to the tension he inadvertently created among Garcia, Oineza, and another housemate, Loisa Andalio.
In the show's previous episodes, Fortento was seen to be teasing Garcia and Oineza. This, however, did not sit well with the other housemates, especially Andalio who referred to Garcia as her best friend.
Majority of those who nominated Fortento said that the "Maginoong Marino ng Quezon" had a tendency to talk behind others' backs. They added that his actions were inconsiderate to the feelings of others.
Asked if he was sure about his decision, Fortento said: "Handa na naman ako sa mangyayari, kahit ano pa iyan.
In a touching moment in the episode, both Fortento and Solano sat out the challenge and allowed the teen housemate to grab the key.
After the challenge, an emotional Garcia immediately went to Fortento and gave the older housemate a hug.
