MANILA – Kapamilya star John Lloyd Cruz is one of the three recipients of the Star Asia award, which will be given at the 15th New York Asian Film Festival in the US, which will run from June 22 to July 25.

Cruz, who starred in the Erik Matti-directed movie “Honor Thy Father,” is the first Filipino and Southeast Asian actor to receive the award.

The other Star Asia awardees for 2016 include Miriam Yeung from Hong Kong and Lee Byung-hun from South Korea.

Filipina actress Teri Malvar, on the other hand, will receive the Screen International Rising Star Asia Award for the movie “Hamog,” along with China’s Jelly Lin and Japan’s Ayano Go.
