MANILA, Philippines – Will Liz Uy serve as president-apparent Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III’s stylist?
An online report said it was the idea of Noynoy’s youngest sister, television host-actress Kris Aquino, to tap Uy to be the presidential frontrunner’s stylist.
The report said Uy declined to confirm the speculation.
In her own "K" magazine, Kris even thanked Uy for helping her brother during the campaign.
In a phone interview, a staff from Noynoy's camp said there is no confirmation yet on the report.
"Wala pa pong confirmation kung siya nga ang kukunin. We are not sure. It's the first time kasi we heard about this issue," said Jennifer Anne Lazo, Noynoy's political communications assistant staff.
Uy, a known celebrity stylist, snatched the limelight when she began to date hunk actor John Lloyd Cruz. Their break-up became the talk of the town for months.
When sought for reaction, Cruz was all praises for his former girlfriend.
"Napakalaking bagay noon para sa kanya and I'm sure she is very happy na makakatulong siya sa incoming administration. Kayang kaya niya ‘yon. Sobrang napakagaling niya and she's very close to the family. I think they will work well together," the actor said.
Cruz also declined to comment on reports that Uy brought to Camarines Sur her new boyfriend. He said he has yet to talk to Uy about it.
We cannot please everybody.
This was Cruz’s response, meanwhile, to people who were criticizing his, Luis Manzano and Billy Crawford’s hosting styles on “Wowowee.” The 3, collectively known as “Kanto Boys,” were even compared to former “Wowowee” guest host Robin Padilla.
Cruz, however, simply brushed off the criticisms.
"Kumbaga kami tinanong kami kung pwede kaming sumalo muna pansamantala. Kami naman sa kagustuhan naming makatulong or makapag-ease ng konting burden sa staff nila or sa management ng ABS-CBN… pumayag kami,” he said.
“Ang dala-dala namin papuntang studio ay ang intention na makabawas problema at makapag-entertain sa live audience at mga nanonood ng ‘Wowowee’ everyday. I guess kung hindi nagustuhan, wala kaming magagawa doon," Cruz added.
Cruz also extended his appreciation to Padilla who defended the “Kanto Boys” from their critics.
“Sa mga hindi favorable ang opinion sa amin about doing the show, sinubukan po naman namin,” he said.
As for the possibility of hosting “Wowowee” permanently, the actor shot down the suggestion, saying no one can replace original host Willie Revillame, who is on indefinite break. "Tayo tumutulong lang tayo sa ganitong panahon na mayroon pang inaayos na problema."
Is he open to the possibility of hosting his own noontime program? "As long as maa-accommodate ng calendar ko at hindi lang ako ang magde-decide niyan. I have my manager to consult with."
For this week, Cruz, who is now busy with his upcoming teleserye, "Imortal," alongside Angel Locsin, bared that he might not be able to host “Wowowee” due to his “prior commitments.” -Report from Reyma Buan-Deveza, abs-cbnNEWS.com
