How debut episodes of new 'Voice Kids' fared in ratings

MANILA – The third season of “The Voice Kids” scored huge ratings for its opening weekend on May 28 and 29.

Citing data from Kantar Media, the talent search announced that its Saturday episode recorded a 35.6% national TV ratings compared to its rival “Pepito Manaloto,” which only garnered 17.9%.

On Sunday, “The Voice Kids” posted even higher numbers with 36.6% national TV ratings, while competitor “Ismol Family” had 14.1%.

This is the first season of Sharon Cuneta as one of the show’s mentors. She replaced Sarah Geronimo to join Lea Salonga and Bamboo Manalac in the panel of judges.

Aside from Cuneta, Kim Chiu also joined the show as one of its hosts, along with Luis Manzano and Robi Domingo.

By the end of the show's opening weekend, Salonga was able to recruit four young artists: Eleana Gabunada, Peter Vallejos, Noel Comia Jr. and Yessha dela Calzada.

Bamboo only has one artist -- Xylein Herrera -- on his team, while Cuneta’s team has three members: Timothy Pepito, Iya Agraviador and John Paul Gumandoy.

"The Voice Kids"airs Saturdays after "Home Sweetie Home" and on Sundays after "Goin' Bulilit."
