MANILA - The title for the upcoming Star Cinema film starring Jodi Sta. Maria, Richard Yap, and Ian Veneracion has been revealed.
In an interview with reporters on Wednesday, director Antoinette Jadaone said the film will be called "Achy Breaky Heart," inspired by the 1992 pop hit of the same title by American singer Billy Ray Cyrus.
Star Cinema announced early this month that it will make a romantic comedy topbilled by Sta. Maria alongside Yap and Veneracion. Both of them have worked with the actress on separate hit series "Be Careful with My Heart" and "Pangako Sa 'Yo."
"Achy Breaky Heart" is about a 30-year-old woman named Chinggay (Sta. Maria) and the stigma that comes with being single at that age.
"Kasi it's a story of Chinggay who is desperate to find love," Jadaone explained when asked about the title. "Nasaktan siya dati sa love tapos mami-meet niya iyong dalawang babae na may issue din sa pag-ibig. So may tatlong achy breaky hearts na magmi-meet sa movie."
Jadaone, best known for her work on "That Thing Called Tadhana" and "On the Wings of Love," also promised that the film will focus on Chinggay and that the ending will not favor either the characters of Yap and Veneracion just to please fans.
"Nakaka-pressure siya pero kung titingnan mo iyong story, madali lang malaman kung ano ang dapat maging ending nung love story ni Chinggay," said Jadaone.
"Story ito ni Chinggay who found two men. So in the end, doon ako kung saan si Chinggay tamang maging masaya. Hindi ako Team Richard or Team Ian, doon ako sa Team Chinggay kasi iyon ang central character ko," she added.
