MANILA -- Kapamilya actress Denise Laurel played down the postponement of her wedding to boyfriend, PBA star Sol Mercado, which was originally set for this year.

In an interview on Monday at the press conference for cable channel Lifestyle's new magazine talk show "Modern Girls," which will debut on May 28, Laurel, who is one of the hosts, explained that they wanted to have more time to prepare for a "wonderful wedding."

"If we could just have our wedding and everybody there together, we would do it in a heartbeat. But, of course, I understand also that Sol wants to have a wonderful wedding and I want to have a wonderful wedding," Laurel said.

"My son keeps on saying when are we getting married? So I want to give them a wonderful day. If I'm going to plan something, I really wanted it to be awesome and something that will remember for a very long time," she said.

She also reiterated that there is no personal issue behind the postponement.

"You know my son is getting bigger, we want to have more kids someday. Gusto ko lang maging wais and I want to plan it properly. Of course, if you invite one person, you're going to invite everyone. But you know I'm getting there. It's just that ang daming factors -- schedule ng PBA, getting everybody there, people from the States, from here. It's not really an issue; it's more like kailangan ko ng help from God, kailangan ko ng powers," she said.

Laurel shared that they will have two weddings.

"He's Christian and I'm Catholic. So we are going to have a Christian and Catholic wedding. We respect each other and even we are different, 'yung pagmamahal namin sa Diyos ay hindi kami hinahati," said Laurel.

In the meantime, Laurel expects to be busy as one of the hosts of "Modern Girls" along with Gretchen Ho and Sam Oh.

"Sobrang excited ko kasi bagong parte ni Denise ang makikita ng mga tao. If you guys want to hang out, have some girl talk, or if you want to learn about women, join us in the show," she said.
