MANILA - Actor-director Eric Quizon, the son of the late film icon Dolphy, said he and his siblings are not against the new boyfriend of singer Zsa Zsa Padilla, the partner of the comedy king for 23 years.

Quizon was asked about Padilla's relationship with architect Conrad Onglao on Thursday, on the sidelines of the taping of the premiere episode of "Ipaglaban Mo," which he is directing.

"Zsa Zsa and I have been very good friends," Quizon told ABS-CBN News' Mario Dumaual. "And ang friendship naman namin... It doesn't mean na just because my dad is dead, doon matatapos iyon. No."

"We all have our lives, we all have to move on. Whatever she does, kung saan siya masaya, she has the support of the whole family. Walang ano do'n... walang ano, kumbaga, samaan ng loob."

Dolphy died in July 2012 after five years battling chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Two of his 18 children are with Padilla -- Zia and adopted daughter Nicole.

'Kung saan siya masaya'

Padilla went public with her relationship with Onglao only last April, during the concert of veteran performer Gary Valenciano.

"Alam naman namin ang serbisyo at pagmamahal na binigay niya sa daddy ko," Quizon said. "For that, we were very happy that she was and always will be a part of the Quizon family. But just like I said, kung saan siya masaya, masaya rin kami."

Asked for his thoughts on Padilla managing to move on after his father's death, Quizon said, "Isa 'yan sa pinakamahirap nag pinagdadaanan ng isang tao, 'yung para malampasan mo o ma-hurdle mo 'yung mga pinagdaanan mo, mga hirap mo, mga pasakit mo."

"Lalo na mahal niya 'yung taong... Mahal na mahal niya si daddy, naging parte ng buhay niya. But like I said, she's still young! Kung ang daddy ko nga, ang daming naging asawa, e," he quipped, laughing.

On the possibility of Padilla getting married a second time -- her first marriage with Dr. Modesto Tatlonghari was annulled in 2011 -- Quizon said, "If ever, if that happens, of course, yes. I'll be there!"
