MANILA - "We Love OPM" paid tribute to Megastar Sharon Cuneta with fresh renditions of classic move and television theme songs that have made the Kapamilya star one of the most enduring icons of her generation.
Kyle Echarri, Bailey May and Juan Karlos Labajo opened Saturday's show with a hip-hop version of "Pangarap na Bituin." Mentor Richard Poon said reworking the performance highlighted the group's carefree attitude.
Last week's winners, Bugoy Drilon and Dominador Aviola, a former contestant of "Tawag ng Tanghalan," sang a "fiesta" version of "Ikaw."
The Erik Santos-mentored team had to perform without Jovit Baldivino, however, due to scheduling conflicts.
Nyoy Volante's team, composed of Kaye Cal, Marion (formerly Marion Aunor) and Marlo Mortel, stormed the second round with their rock cover of "Sana'y Wala ng Wakas."
Krissha Viaje of Girltrends, Ylona Garcia and Alexa Ilacad closed the show and got the night's highest score with an upbeat rendition of "Kahit Konting Pagtingin" which allowed them to show off their dancing skills.
The rest of the teams will perform on Sunday.
Hosted by Anne Curtis and Eric Nicolas, "We Love OPM" airs Saturdays after "Maalaala Mo Kaya" and Sundays after "Rated K."
